Monitoring your temperatures is good, and something everyone should check on once in a while. What pisses me off is the false temps force the CPU to artificially throttle from 3GHz down to 2GHz and my CPU fan is cranking at full force all the time. There isn't much else you can do with HWMonitor, but it's a good program to have around. I removed the heatsink and cleaned off the original thermal paste (which was somewhat crusty). Unfortunately, if it isn't the heatsink, there is no easy user fix other than replacing the offending part. This will give you the motherboard side of the socket's temperature readings, but this is not the actual temp of the CPU (mine is somewhere around 7C more).
