I've actually seen this issue with svchost more often be legitimate tasks than malware. Since Windows 10, you can’t delay or pause Windows Update easily. Moreover, DVD format movies are not run smoothly when laptop is on direct power supply but are played nicely when it runs on battery. All of this requires processing power, which can translate to poor performance.
