I headed over to MS's own forums this morning to find a whole thread of people having the SAME PROBLEM. You should be able to fully boot into Windows now 10. It shows a black screen. I hope these new drivers didn't damage my book. :( Shut my book down for about 8 hours and when I restarted it the discoloration was gone. it'll be one very expensive lesson learned. I was pretty annoyed at that point and was about to go on a rant, but I did a manual power down, holding the power button, then starting the system up

I just bought a WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA III disk and I want to install Windows 7 there, since the disk is faster. Thank you! Help.

The issue was that the newer BIOS breaks the way Windows 8/10 read the SATA configuration and downgrading the BIOS fixes it.

What do I do to fix it? I bought my current PC in October 2011. Well, I'm glad it isn't just me! I can play for indefinite periods when the screen will suddenly go black for several seconds and the system automatically reboots. Good as new! Now, I have of course told the computer to let nothing happen when I close the lid. I've been unable to figure out what's causing this problem and how to get rid of it.

My admittedly uninformed speculation is that it's crashing when it tries to go into hibernation. I have set the option "choose what closing the lid does" to "do nothing".
